In 2020, Kimberly and her husband moved to Seattle. During the pandemic, she bonded with neighbors over bourbon and beach meals. Cooking at Alki Beach fire pits with fresh market finds revealed her passion for open-fire cooking.
Determined to master it, Kimberly spent a year in Austin learning BBQ, smoking, and live-fire techniques. Afterward, she launched High-Concept Picnic, turning her love for outdoor cooking into immersive culinary experiences.
